Hair Care Products

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk to you about my hair care products that I use on a regular basis!

First of all, I recently dyed my hair a very dark brown, almost black colour, and have noticed that it has been becoming very greasy very soon after washes. I have found a new shampoo that I plan on ordering soon because it i specifically for oily hair types and has great reviews! But on a normal day I have been using any one of the Aussie brand shampoos and conditioners. I found that they don't make my hair fall out and I like the small of them! However since I have had this oil problem, I am going to be switching to Aubrey Organics, Green Tea, clarifying shampoo for oily hair. Everyone said really good things about this product so I am going to be trying it in a month or so hopefully! (The website I have to order it from takes quite a long time to ship) As for my conditioner, I'll be sticking with Aussie for now but have been told to just make sure I don't apply it to my roots and rinse with cool water, so hopefully that will help!

Once a week I also use a deep conditioning hair mask. My choice is the L'oreal Re-nutrition Deep Moisture mask. As much as i dislike the smell of this product, it makes my hair super soft and smooth!

For brushes and combs, I'm really not picky. I usually go for the most inexpensive ones at walmart.

While my hair is still wet or damp, I apply the John Frieda Frizz Ease straight fixation smoothing cream. This product helps to tame the insane amount of frizz i get naturally with my curls. I've been using this product for almost a year and so far so good!

Before I use any heat on my hair, I try to remember to use a heat protectant. The one I'm currently using is the Got2B Guardian Angel Heat protectant spray. I find this is an affordable choice and it works!

That is pretty much it for hair care. I try not to use too many styling products, as I find they damage my hair. Besides blow drying and straightening every once in awhile, I normally wear my hair natural or up in a bun or pony tail.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know what your favorite hair care products are in the comments! :)

New youtube channel! booktube?!

Hey everyone! obviously I've been super absent from the blog lately but things have been busy (see a couple posts back for an explanation). I'm just going to get right into what i want to talk to you about.

Most of you may know I've been participating in the booktubeathon for the last week and today is the last day! going through this readathon was so much fun and i have a blast watching youtubers check in videos. These youtubers who talk about books are refered to as booktubers, hence the title of this post! So anyways some of you may know that i tried making beauty videos before. I love watching other peoples but i'm just not into it all enough to keep up with it. However, I love books enough and read enough that i'm sure that I could do it with a booktuber channel, so this is what I plan to do! I'm going to get my first video ever up tonight and it is going to be about my progress through the booktubeathon and my final count of books, pages, and challenges I've completed, and I am super excited to film it! (My camera is charging as i type this and as soon as this is posted i'm going to set up my background stuff!) I'm not guaranteeing that this will work out and i can't promise i will keep up with it but I am very excited to try! :)

Thanks for the support i hope you will give me throughout this new journey! :)

PS. I won't stop blogging! don't worry ;)

Q and A a Day book

Hey everyone! :) I was recently watching a random favorite video from amarixe on youtube (Her beauty channel is amarixe so that's what everyone would know her by but i watched the video on her vlog channel. click here to check it out) She mentioned a book called Q and A a day and i was immediately interested in this. I shopped around to find the best price but chose chapter just because it is local for me. So pretty much it is a journal that has a different question for everyday of the year, for 5 years (there is a space to fill in which year it is). There re all sorts of questions that range from "Are you wearing socks?" to "what is your mission". It is also a very pretty book! I keep it on my night stand and do it whenever i think of it, but usually at night. I would highly recommend picking this up! it's a really cool and different way of recording some random and some important pieces of your life for 5 years!

You can get it from any of these links:

I hope you'll check out this book and give it a try :) I think it's such a neat idea!

- Chantel :) <3

PS. There is also a childrens version! Look for it online at any of those stores but i know for sure that chapters has it!

Where have I been?!

Hey everyone! Today I sat down to figure out where i was at with my posts and realized I have been slacking big time! one post in 6 days is ridiculous! Pretty much i just decided to let you guys know where I've been and what i have been doing!

The main reason I haven't been posting as much is due to the fact that my birthday was yesterday (yay!) and I've spent several days just out with friends to celebrate and usually come home late. I have also spent some time at one of my sisters and that has cut into my blogging time, as well as things going on with my other sister and I've been busy helping her get back on her feet. The last reason is also a major one: I've been participating in the BookTubeAthon! (For more details check it out here) and this has taken up a lot of time because I've spent lots of time reading! However, I want to make it clear that i will have a better schedule as soon as I can! My summers are usually pretty split up for certain weeks when i'm busy so as soon as school comes back in September I should be able to plan it all out better!

Anyways that is it for now!

PS. I'm writing another post as soon as this one is up so you will have another to read as well!

Mini beauty haul!

Hey everyone! So I took a quick run to target with my mom today before heading to my sisters, and took a look through the beauty section. Of course I picked up a few things, and wanted to go ahead and share them with you :) so here it is, the first ever haul on this blog!!

So first off, I grabbed a new cover girl clean: oily skin foundation. This is a back up for when mine runs out. I've been using this foundation faithfully for about a year and a half now and have found that it's an awesome light - medium coverage foundation! It is super in expensive at $6.99. (I'm the shade ivory)

After that I thought I'd pick up another jar of the NYC smooth skin translucent loose powder. I've been using this for about 9 months now and have no real complaints. However they didn't have the translucent one and the only shade they had was naturally beige which is nothing close to my skin tone. Because I loved this product so much I decided to try and find another powder but still in the NYC line. I ended up with the same translucent powder, except that this one is pressed instead of loose. I'm usually not a huge fan of pressed powder but because it is the same formula, I have higher expectations for this one. And it's another great steal at only $2.99!

The next and last product I picked up is the clearasil cleansing cream wash. I've been breaking out like crazy lately and have tried using my clean and clear foaming cleanser but have noticed that if anything, this just breaks me out more. I decided that I was going to try a brand I have never tried before and had a lot of products focused on fighting acne breakouts. I found myself in front of a whole line of products from clearasil. I decided on this one specifically because it is supposed to give noticeably clearer skin in just 12 hours. They had ones that were supposed to work in 4 hours but I thought they might be too harsh on my skin. This one looked like it might do the trick, so I decided to give it a try. I'll be doing a full review once I've used it a few more times. This is a fair priced skin care product for $8.99. (The picture is blurry but it is the only one I could find of the right product)

So that is all I got this trip to target. If you would like to see any reviews on any of the products let me know, and I will see you next time!

Closet Tour!

Hey everyone! :) Today i decided to reorganize my closet because it was looking quite cluttered. I thought it might be fun to share a closet tour with you guys and show what i keep in it, and how i organize it!

DISCLAIMER: All items throughout my closet ere either bought by myself with my own money or given to me as gifts through family and friends. This post is not to brag about what I have. If you don't like it, don't read the post please.

First off, instead of having doors on my closet, i have curtains going across. I got these from Walmart, and I'm not sure what brand these are but if you go to the curtain aisle in your i'm sure you can find these or something very similar.

Once you open the curtain, here's an over view.

I'm going to go in depth with all the shelves but to start off, to the right of the closet, on the floor there's just some shoes in the corner that i don't wear much and a bag of Christmas and birthday cards that I've kept from over the years. The Hanging bar just has some pull over sweaters, and zip up hoodies, as well as some baggy T-shirts that i use to sleep in and work out in because they are comfier then fitted shirts. To the Left of the hanging shelves, I have overnight bags, gym bags, and backpacks. There are also some reusable lululemon bags on the floor that hold stuff that i use for volleyball. (knee high socks, knee pads, etc.) There is also another hanging bar that has my dresses, skirts, and dressier shirts and cardigans that i wear when i go out.

Lets get into the separate shelves now! I have them numbered in each picture to make it easier for you guys to understand :)

Okay, so starting with the built in shelving unit, I got this at my local hardware store, but i'm sure Ikea has something similar. On the very top of the unit, I have purses and clutches that i only use once in awhile. Beside them, i have a basket with a lid. Inside, I have extra products. So hairspray, Sunscreen, nail polish remover, etc. I have open versions of these products in my bathroom but this basket has extras for when i run out. So then on shelf number 1. I have three purses that I switch between. The one in the front is the cross-body bag I've been using the most lately. I also keep my Sunglasses in their case on this shelf. Shelf number 2. has all my candles, and as you can see majority of them are from Bath and Body Works! I also have my little monsters university and despicable me 2 figurines as decor. On Shelf number 3. I have all my perfumes, body sprays, lotions, and body butters. For decor, i also keep a star fish from the Bahamas, and a fan from mexico. Shelf Number 4. counts as both the last two shelves because they are both just full of books, books, and more books! On the floor beneath the last shelf i have all the shoes i pull out the most. I have my runners and flip flops at easy reach. Then behind those i have one pair of black heels that go with everything, a pair of heeled boots, and some flats.

Now onto the hanging shelf! You can get these at Walmart and Target and they are a really inexpensive way to organize. I didn't number this one so we're just going to go from top to bottom. On the top shelf i have 5 make up bags. The first one has all my every day makeup, the second holds all my brushes, the next holds extra makeup i don't use everyday but i still use pretty regularly. The one after that has all my lipsticks, lip balms, and glosses (i still keep my everyday ones in the first makeup bag, these are just the rest of them) and the last one has medical stuff like band-aids, after bite, tooth freezing gel for when my wisdom teeth start to bother me, and vicks vapor rub. The rest of my makeup is in storage, if it isn't something i use normally. The next two shelves just have a bunch of tank tops (they look messy but i promise i folded them all). The next one under that has a face powder i use very day but if i put it in the make up bag it becomes super messy when i open it because it is a loose power. I have my brush shampoo, A handsanitizer, a sephora bag with all my samples in it, and behind that i have my palettes. The Next shelf is really random. I have my DS, Random chargers, A Christmas stocking (i have no idea what this is doing here LOL) and some more random stuff that just never found a home in my bedroom, bathroom, or office. And the last and final shelf has a bunch of books that were cluttering my book shelves. They are either books i won't read anytime soon, or are childrens books that i don't plan to read myself but won't throw out or give away.

I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe it gave you some inspiration to reorganize an area in your home like your closets :) Happy organizing!

New Favorite Eye-Shadow Palette!

Last week i decided to take a look in Sephora to see if there was anything i wanted to treat myself to for my birthday (and yes, i do that, LOL) This is when i found my latest favorite eye palette for the summer! total fluke! It is the Charlotte Ronson All Eye Need palette in the color Nicole. With a really awesome name i had to take a look at it, and i loved the 4 colors in it!

Charlotte Ronson - All Eye Need Eye Shadow Palette - Nicole

I have used the palette twice now and found that i love almost all the qualities of the shadows. The color pay off is good and it applys smoothly. If you are someone who doesn't love sparkles and shimmer in your shadows this may not be for you. However, personally i think they are beautiful both in the pan and on the eye!

You can imagine how i'm fairly disappointed that Sephora is discontinuing to carry the line. This explains why i got it on sale. I never asked the lady who was helping me why they decided this but i am not happy! Anyway, if you like the colors then try and get your hand on it now! I believe they'll carry these until they sell out of them, and after that they won't have any Charlotte Ronson products.

Hope you enjoyed this post and i highly suggest giving this palette a try!

PS. They have other color sets besides Nicole, so take a look at Sephora online!

Movie Review: Despicable Me 2

Hey guys :) I went to see Despicable Me 2 with my mom on opening night earlier this week! I loved the first one and thought it was hilarious so you can imagine how excited i was that the 2nd one was coming out! Usually with the second parts of movies i try not to expect too much out of them because i find that 9 times out of 10 they aren't nearly as good as the first, so i didn't make this movie any exception before i seen it. However, i was pleasantly surprised by this one! The situations they put Gru in this time made for a great movie! There were a bunch of new characters and the idea for it was just awesome! but of course, my favorite parts were with the minions! Those little guys are so funny! If you haven't seen it yet definitely go see it in 3D in the theater, and make sure to stay for the credits! i promise you won't be disappointed! If you've seen it, let me know what your favorite part was! :)

Coco-Roons: yay or nay?

I recently came across these things called coco-roons from the toneitup girls. They mentioned them in one of their bikini bites videos a little while ago. So when I looked them up online everyone seemed to think they are a great organic sweet treat so I decided to give them a go and order them! They aren't available in Canada so they took about 3 weeks to get here. (I ordered from iherb.com if your wondering) so today they finally came in and I was excited to give them a try! I got the brownie flavour and here's what they look like.

So even by the smell of these I was a little hesitant to take that first bite! And I'm glad I was and only took a small piece because I couldn't even finish one of these. The texture was sort of gritty and the overall taste was just not good.
The only thing I could taste that even seemed relatively good was a slight taste of coconut. So pretty much I will not be repurchasing these in any flavour again and they just aren't worth the $11 that I payed.

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Read-A-Thon! Join in on the Fun! :)

Hey everyone :) I Recently found out about this thing going around on youtube called the booktube-a-thon, which is like a Read-A-Thon for youtubers! If you don't know what a read-a-thon is, it's pretty much just a marathon to read as much as you possibly can. This particular one was co-created by two booktubers on youtube, Raeleen and Ariel. They both posted videos explaining how it was going to work and they created 7 challenges to go along with it to make it more challenging and fun!

Here's their videos to learn more in depth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p606hTpUvxo and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRd8T_yWukM

So As mentioned, they created 7 challenges to make things a little more interesting. I changed these and made a few adjustments to make it fit my schedule a little better, and feel free to make your own adjustments as well! Before getting into the challenges i want to point out that the girls intend for the Read-A-Thon to start on July 15th and end on July 21st. My first change to the plan is that i am starting now. Due to the fact that the challenges would be quite difficult for me to complete in that time seeing how busy i am, i wanted to give myself a little more time. Now lets get into the challenges and what books i'll be reading for each!

Challenge # 1. Read 300 pages a day
-This would equal out to 2,100 pages in those 7 days. So what i have changed for this one is that i want to complete 2,100 pages by the 21st, no matter if i read 100 one day and 400 another day.

Challenge # 2. Read a book with 500 or more pages
- For this challenge i plan on reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. ( this one is 498 pages so I'm counting it anyways)

Challenge # 3. Re-read a book
- I had a difficult time deciding on a book to re-read for this one, but when i picked up Miss peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs I knew i had to read this one over again! (The pictures are much better in the physical copy than on my E-reader which is how i read it the first time)

Challenge # 4. Finish a Series or Trilogy
- This can mean reading the last book or the two last books or the whole series, depending on what you have to finish or if you have any at all. I decided it is definitely time for me to finish the Hunger Games series with MockingJay by Suzanne Collins.

Challenge # 5. Read a book that has been on your shelf the longest
- To my understanding this can be a book that you've read or not read, however i'm personally choosing a book i haven't read. For this challenge i decided on Ghost Huntress: The Awakening by Marley Gibson.

Challenge # 6. Listen to an Audio-book
- I love this challenge because to my knowledge not many people use audio-books. I recently got 13 Reasons why by Jay Asher. Listening to a book i really convenient because i can listen on the go, or while i'm cleaning or cooking or in the bath. The possibilities are endless LOL.

And Finally......

Challenge # 7. Read a Classic
- I'm not a big fan of classics so i was fairly hesitant when it came to this one. I checked online to see about getting a free classic on my E-reader and I found The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I thought this one sounded interesting so i thought i'd give it a try!

BONUS Challenge: See how many challenges you can mix together!

I'm very excited about getting started and can't wait to see how many of these challenges i can complete! Feel free to switch things up to fit for yourself and let me know what you plan on reading! Also, You definitely don't have to do the challenges to take part, if you want to just read as much as you can before the 21st that's awesome too! I'm going to keep you updated on when i finish a challenge and let you know my page count so far. I hope you'll all join me and get your reading on cause it's going to be a busy month for reading but also a very fun one! Make sure to follow the girls on twitter @BookTubeAThon to get updates and support through out the marathon, plus they'll have a hashtag going on which is #BookTubeAThon! Let me know if you'll be taking part and have fun!
